Jackson will probably stay in the hospital until the end of
the week. Mom and dad have stayed with him in his ICU room and they are
doing well after some sleep last night. The surgery has left Jackson with a
black eye. Nurses are pleased as he has shown movement and responsiveness
after surgery. Posted Sep 27, 2006 1:50pm
Hello, hope all is well with you and your families. We received the second
opinion pathology report from Dr. Burger and he has confirmed that it is
indeed an ependymoma. I have to be totally honest and say that I
was still hoping for a miracle in that he would report a benign tumor, but
we are grateful for his expert knowledge so that we may proceed with the
utmost care for our sweet son.
One week from today is the all too important follow-up tests that will be checking for cancer spread. I must say, the waiting is horrible. So much changes if the cancer has spread to his spinal fluid, spinal cord or brain. I have to try and stop myself from thinking about it because it just becomes too overwhelming. His blood work from yesterday came back just fine and we are praising God for that. He slept so peacefully during the night and I have so enjoyed hearing him call for me in the morning. I always miss my boys when they sleep, but now that early morning "Mommy" is all the more beautiful. Dawson is being the absolute best big brother; he is sharing, playing with gentle care and keeping a watchful eye on his little brother. I am amazed at his brotherly love and their unfailing bond. Mark is working hard and trying to catch up as best he can. In the evenings, he is tirelessly searching the internet for every last bit of information we can get our hands on in order to make the best decision for treatment options. He spoke with an expert pediatric radiologist, Dr. Thomas Merchant last night for over an hour. He works at St. Jude's and has an overabundance of knowledge with regard to pediatric neuro-radiation. Jackson will definitely need radiation and if he was older than 3 it would be the prescribed first course of treatment. However, there is some promising research for radiation on children younger than 3 and we are diligently looking into that with his assistance. It is unbelievable the amount of doctors we have called, emailed, faxed, fed-ex, met with thus far; there is a team of medical professionals who with God's guidance will cure our sweet baby Jackson. They have to! I pray for the doctors everyday as well. I need them in tip-top shape, well rested and at their top of their game to assist the Lord in healing our son. I ask that you continue to pray for our family. I feel the Lord's presence when I read your emails and I hope that I can somehow return the love, encouragement and support to all of you under very diffferent circumstances in the future. God bless you and your families. Give your little ones extra hugs and kisses today! With God, all things are possible.

| Hey there family and friends, hope all is well with you
on this Thursday morning.
Boy do I have some wonderful news to share with you; Jackson's scans are CANCER-FREE!!!! Praise God for His continued healing intercession upon Jackson. We are elated about the MRI results! Just when we thought things couldn't get any better, we received some more wonderful news. Are you ready for this? During our appointment with Dr. Merchant he started off the conversation with, "The pathology has changed". Well, the little I do know about medicine is that pathology usually doesn't change 5 months after the initial diagnosis. |

Mommy and Jackson getting ready for the port surgery. Thank God for our portable DVD player! February 16, 2007 |
But for our Jackson it does!!! Let me explain, on our last day of treatment here at St. Jude's we agreed to participate in a protocol that followed Jackson's progress for the next 10 years. Unbeknownst to us, part of the new protocol involved sending off more detailed samples of Jackson's original tumor to a panel of Pathologists, including the expert pathologist who originally diagnosed the tumor back in September. After further review of the samples, the pathology has come back a Grade 2 tumor as opposed to the original diagnosis of Grade 3 tumor. HOORAY!!!
The Grades vary from 1-4, Grade 1 being the least aggressive and Grade 4 being the most aggressive. Grades 3 and 4 are more quickly spreading, more difficult to control and also more likely to cause recurrence. All this time we accepted his tumor as being Grade 3 and continued to pray for the best, never in our wildest dreams expecting a more uplifting diagnosis of Grade 2 five months after this whole nightmare started. Can you imagine our delight upon hearing this miraculous news? I had to sit down and catch my breath because I knew the positive ramifications for Differentiated tumors, (grades 1 and 2) versus Anaplastic tumors, (Grades 3 and 4.)
I believe with all of my heart that the power of prayer is MIRACULOUS for our precious Jackson. I believe the Lord hears our prayers and is healing Jackson every second of every minute. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your prayers. They are indeed working! All I can say is that I can't imagine a better Valentine's Day present. Although I did gladly feast on the box of chocolates Mark gave me yesterday:) I can honestly say it was the best chocolate I have ever had; food has a way of tasting better when you are actually calm enough to digest them! I slept like a baby last night, less worried than usual, more peaceful and hopeful than usual. For those of you who have never witnessed a miracle, I will share my miracle with you, JACKSON!! He is already such a beautiful part of your prayer life and I am forever grateful to each one of you for that. I can hear the angels singing from heaven as I cuddle with our CANCER-FREE son. Praise the Lord with all my soul! With God, all things are possible.

Hey there family and friends, hope all is well on this Saturday
morning. I apologize for the lengthy time span in between my last
update. I have been wonderfully busy with our four beautiful boys.
Can you believe the Lord has blessed us with 4 happy, loving, and HEALTHY boys? Wow! If I had a quarter for each time someone said to me, "I don't know how you do it!" we could send all 4 boys to Notre Dame with the vast collection of money! The truth is plain and simple, yes it's absolutely chaotic at times and yes there are moments where I truly need about 10 extra sets of hands, but I have never been happier and more grateful for our blessings. Someone once said, "I'm to blessed to be stressed" and I quite like the sound of that! Wow, so much to catch you up on. Jackson turned 4 on August 27, praise God! Every birthday is such a trememdous blessing for our family. I think we sang "Happy Birthday" 6 times for Jackson all along the way at the various celebrations. Never enough celebrating another year of life, another opportunity to thank the Good Lord for His healing, for the hope of a better tomorrow and the wish that his birthday cakes become better suited by the number candles than the actual single count candles because he has aged so much! 100 years old and counting; sounds like a plan to me! Happy Birthday sweet Jackson! |

Happy 4th birthday to Jackson!

Our Dawson started kindergarten at Christ the King in late August and we are over the moon with his progress. He loves the school and we love seeing him so happy and well adjusted. I attended Christ the King years ago so it is very endearing to see our Dawson walking those same familiar halls, and even interacting with some of the same teachers. He is surrounded by faculty, staff, his peers and their families all who share a wondrous love of our Lord. Now that is a HUGE blessing!
Brady Jude is my little firecracker. He is into everything and keeps me on my toes. He has an undeniable sparkle in his eyes that melt my heart each and every time he showcases that infectious smile.
Baby Tate is absolutely, positively the most adorable baby boy on the planet. He is precious and I spend my days trying to sneak away moments with him for special cuddle time just he and I. I can always count on the 1 am and 4 am feedings for that so at least we share those together. He is perfect in every way.
Mark is busy, busy, busy at work. He just finished a federal trial that took much of his time and energy. I snuck into the courtroom one afternoon and watched him cross examine a witness. He was awesome! I was so proud of him and I loved seeing him in action. So calm and collected while assertively firing away his questions. What can I say, I am full of pride for my family. They are just wonderful!
Okay, here's the latest on the St. Jude's front: Jackson's golf tournament is scheduled for October 4 at the Westchase Golf Club. If you are interested in golfing or attending the family dinner, please email me at churleykiser@yahoo.com We would love to see you out supporting the most amazing hospital in the world, St. Jude's. 100% of the proceeds from the tournament will benefit the hospital where Jackson was healed. I also wanted to mention a date for all of you to mark on your calendars, September 29. This is Create-A-Pepper Day at all Chili's Restaurants. Chili's is a huge supporter of St. Jude.
The newest edition to the St. Jude complex is called the Chili's Care Center. This is the part of the hospital that houses all the radiation, MRI and CT scan department and speicailizes in brain tumors. We will be spending most of our time at this new part of the hospital when we return for Jackson's check-up in October. On the Create-A-Pepper day, 100% of all profits will go directly to St. Jude. Hooray for Chili's! Lastly and most importantly, I just want to take a moment and continue to rally prayers for our Jackson. Indeed he is thriving and becoming more and more special with each passing day. Your continued prayers are the greatest gift and we truly appreciate every one of your prayerful hearts. I am going to post some new pictures of our family. May the Lord bless you and keep you. With God, all things are possible.
| Dear Family and friends, Jesus walked with Jackson and I all day, today at St. Judes. From the first pinch, to selecting bubble gum anesthetic, to weighing in 4 pounds heavier, growing one WHOLE inch since our last visit, receieving positive news from OT, PT and Speech and THEN CRYSTAL CLEAR SCANS!!!! Dr. Merchant wants our sweet Jackson to be really challenged next fall in school, because of all the research on this type of brain surgery. WOW, Mark and I will have to decide what is the best GRADE for Jackson, NOT the GRADE of HIS tumor, but the GRADE which best suits our son, EC4 or Kindergarten??? Thank you, Jesus, for ALWAYS outdoing anything I have prayed for. As always, your prayers, thoughts and positive words helped to lift our airplane to give us safe travel, insured wonderful people to treat Jackson with love and kindness and believed with and for me that "WITH GOD ALL THINGS are POSSIBLE." Matthew 19:26 amen.......... |

Many thanks to all of his prayer warriors; I share this day of celebration with each of you as you too are a part of his healing. Forever grateful, forever grateful! I am reminded all too often of the many birthdays never seen by so many children afflicted with pediatric cancer. The pain and suffering these families bear everyday, especially holidays and should have been birthdays are unfathomable. I pray for those Mommies, Daddies, sisters, brothers, and loved ones who have said "goodbye" to their precious angel too soon.
It is with an overwhelmingly humble and grateful heart that I wish my son Happy 5th Birthday. Thank you Jackson for reminding me daily how precious life truly is. You are everything good and all things great! I LOVE YOU JACKSON, my eternal inspiration and reminder of Our Healing Lord. Amen and Amen!
